Many of the members of the country club have very respectable careers. You can hardly avoid a doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur, or senior executive while there. I often chuckle to myself while I’m there because of the wierdness that they expect. For instance: there’s a man who refuses to give his number to new employees because he thinks that they should know who he is. There was another man who didn’t like it that they moved the dirty towel baskets, so he threw his dirty towel on the floor where he thought the basket should have been.
What’s also interesting is the things that the members will do just because they figure that since they pay dues, they can use the club as their dumping ground, or cesspool in this case.
There’s a doctor who comes into the fitness center very early in the morning 5:00 am – 5:30 am. Now, before I continue this story, let me say that I’ve never seen this with my own eyes. I’ve heard this through Harrie, the woman who works the coffee bar. Apparently this doctor blows snot out of his nose throughout his workout. Yes folks, you read that right: He BLOWS SNOT out of his nose.
This has been happening for months; or at least Harrie has been telling me about it for months – could be longer. There are other members who see him do it. Apparently they get grossed out & leave, but until recently, no one has said anything.
Last week another doctor, a woman, after he discharged his nose, asked him if he needed a Kleenex, because she was getting ready to use the machine that he was on. His reply was “Well then you should just use another machine.”
Oh my freakin’ lord.
So many questions & thoughts swirl in my head, like:
- does he do this at home?
- does he do this at work?
- in front of his patients?
- does he not think that it’s gross?
- if there is something wrong with his sinuses, freakin’ get it fixed!
- Ewwww! GROSS!
And, you know, I don’t know how I would react if I saw it happen in front of me. I think I might stand there with my jaw open – dumbfounded.
